Solstice runs a national sports body. Quadball Canada uses it in production at qc.solsticeapp.ca.

## What it does

- Memberships, waivers and payments
- Event registration, schedules and rosters
- Teams, leagues and seasons
- Officials and their readiness
- Messaging and notifications
- Analytics, practice planning and drills
- Stats from game video, through the [automated tagging pipeline](/work/video-tagging)

## Milestones

- **May 2026:** a two-tournament weekend ran on Solstice, from registration through rosters.
- **September 2026:** payments went live in production.
- **October 2026:** a full rewrite began, as an Effect v4 modular monolith on Cloudflare Workers with a Foldkit front end.

## Origins

Solstice began as my technical proposal for viaSport BC's $1.6M sport-data RFP. I hired UX, architecture and security specialists to strengthen it. The evaluation build had MFA, role-based access, governed exports and tamper-evident audit logs on Canadian infrastructure. Load tests covered 20 million synthetic rows at a p95 of 162 ms. It then grew into the full platform.

## How it's built

- TypeScript throughout, now Effect v4
- Cloudflare Workers and Containers in the rewrite, AWS before it
- Built mostly by agents I direct: plan documents, adversarial review by a second model, and browser checks against the running app
