## Kernel optimization

[See the visualization at /kernel](/kernel/). Anthropic's performance take-home asks you to speed up a tree-traversal kernel on a custom VLIW SIMD simulator. I took it from 147,734 cycles to about 1,137, roughly 130 times faster, with no prior kernel experience. At submission, that placed 11th in the world and beat the AI-only record.
